The history of the Bloody Mary is not well-known and there are multiple versions of who invented the cocktail and when. One of the most common stories is that the Bloody Mary was created in the early 20th century at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City by a bartender named Fernand Petiot, who made the cocktail for the hotel guests.
Another version claims that the Bloody Mary was invented in Paris, consisting of vodka, tomato juice, and Worcestershire sauce. The cocktail is said to have become popular in the US later on when Petiot refined it with Tabasco sauce and lemon juice.
Regardless of who created the Bloody Mary and where, one thing is for sure: it is now one of the most well-known and frequently ordered cocktails in the world. The Bloody Mary is often served as a morning or brunch cocktail and can be refined with different ingredients like pepper, celery, paprika, and other spices according to personal taste.
