A Martini on the rocks is a variation of the classic Martini cocktail where the Martini is served over ice. Typically, a Martini cocktail consists of gin and dry vermouth, which are stirred or shaken with ice in a cocktail shaker and then served in a Martini glass. With a Martini on the rocks, however, the cocktail is poured directly over ice in a glass, giving it a cooling effect and slightly diluting it.
