Product: London Dry Gin, Bombay Sapphire
Bombay Sapphire is a gin brand introduced in 1987, allegedly based on a London recipe from 1761. It has been part of Bacardi since 1998. The striking feature is the trademarked light blue bottle.
Characteristic for the gin are ten "botanicals" (vegetable ingredients), namely lemon, almond, liquorice, juniper, iris, angelica, coriander, cinnamon cassie, cubeb pepper and grains of paradise, which weaken and complement the juniper taste typical for gin, so that it tastes milder than typical London dry gins. The triple distilled alcohol is flavoured by means of a steam infusion process (drag distillation), i.e. the herbs hang in a copper basket above the alcohol, whose steam absorbs the flavours. The water added later is said to come from Lake Vyrnwy in Wales.
