Floating
Floating is the technique used in cocktail mixing to add a liquid to a drink so that it does not mix with the other ingredients and floats on top of them. This is achieved by carefully pouring the ingredient over a bar spoon into the glass.
A classic cocktail in which one ingredient is "floated" is the White Russian, which is mixed with cream and the slightly whipped cream is poured over a bar spoon as the last ingredient so that it floats on top of the other ingredients.
